We are exhibiting works by 16 internationally renowned artists. These include pioneers of paper art such as Oskar Holweck, Rolf Kissel, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, and Günther Uecker. These positions are complemented by contemporary works by Isabelle Borges, Artjom Chepovetskyy, Mathias Kessler, Dirk Krecker, Leonie Mertes, and Hendrik Zimmer, who are represented in the gallery or have already been exhibited there. In addition, there are works by Frankfurt artist Klaus Lomnitzer, Saarbrücken artist Christiane Mewes, and artists working in Switzerland: Mariejon De Jong-Buijs, Simone Thiele, and Judith Trepp.

The exhibition focuses on the special charisma of artworks on paper. The material (paper) immediately reveals every action. Folds, embossing, layers, and lines remain visible as real interventions in the material. These interventions create a presence that does not dissolve. The sheet reveals its own tension, its own weight, its own time. Aura arises where a work asserts distance and at the same time develops closeness. Paper is particularly suitable for this purpose. It reacts to pressure, light, and moisture and stores every moment that changes it. The surface reveals these processes as relief, tear, trace, or compaction. Nothing remains hidden. It is precisely this openness that creates a charisma that cannot be reproduced.

Resonance occurs when material and light interact. Shadows emphasize recesses. Lines of shine follow elevations. Color binds to fibers or lies on top as a layer. These reactions create fields that appear both tranquil and concentrated. They open up spaces that are not illusionistic, but rather materially grounded. The work is not a representation of reality, but rather a reflection of the materiality of the medium itself.

“Resonance Spaces on and with Paper” shows paper as a medium that responds to the smallest decisions. Each work represents a relationship between gesture, pressure, material, and time. This combination creates a quality that transcends the visible. This is where the aura that makes this exhibition tangible lies.
