ARTIST STATEMENT
»As a visual artist, I work primarily in painting, sculpture, and combinations of the two, as well as printmaking and installation. My practice centers on consciousness – the unseen phenomenon that contracts inward into the individual lens of self and expands outward, reaching past the limitations of rational materiality through the extended body of nature, into the collective, and beyond. This exploration informs my work within ontological realms, questioning the nature of being, existence, and reality.
My research stems from theology, rituals, and practices of slowing down, as a balancing act against the fast-paced demands of the modern age, whose gravitational pull often disperses our focus to the periphery. I turn to natural aesthetics and symbolism to visually ground or elevate the viewer’s attention towards the center, be it a compositional or a metaphorical one.
Largely inspired by the human-nature connection as a continuation of the body, I incorporate organic materials like linen, cotton, clay, natural pigments, and minerals. Trained in a classical art academy and art school from an early age, I have developed a highly detailed realistic technique, which I juxtapose with fiction in my visual language, resulting in hyper-real abstractions and figurative metascapes: abstract landscapes of inner and outer space, revealing the continuity between consciousness and nature.
Through my work, I evoke a meditative space where the viewer encounters dimensions beyond the visible — where new realms of timelessness, spaciousness, and absence of gravity unfold.«
